What is the St. Ephrem Teen Group?
Here is the short answer (if you want, we've put the long answer at the right):
The Teen Group is made up of high school and college kids. The Teen Group offers a variety of activities that are fun, service oriented and spiritual.
What kinds of things do you do?
Fun things: Dorney Park, Phillies Game, Paintball, Rock-climbing, Laser Tag; Service things: coat & toiletries collections, service at St. Francis Inn, working at parish functions and Spiritual things: lay ministers at Youth Masses, Teen focused Stations of the Cross, etc.
Who can join the Teen Group?
If you are in high school or college and live in St. Ephrem Parish - you can join.
How much does it cost to join?
Nothing to join. There are usually modest costs for the actual activities. For example: we just went to the Phillies Fireworks night and the whole cost was $10 - that paid for the ticket, the bus ride and water & snacks. (Not a bad deal). We do a monthly fundraiser (the second Sunday of every month) - selling great Fritz sticky buns after the Masses. These funds reduce the cost of the fun stuff we do.(like pay for the bus to Dorney Park).
How can I join the Teen Group?
Just email us at: stephremtg@gmail.com and we will email you the sign up sheets. There is no set time frame - you can join anytime (but activity pricing may be based on participation in some past events).
How do I know what is going on with the Teen Group?
Several ways . . .
- check this site for updates (see the calendar to the right)
- we email all registered Teen Group members updates
- we publish info in the Parish Sunday bulletin
Can my friends from other parishes join:
The answer is Yes, but maybe No.
Yes - if your friends want to join the Teen Group and participate in our activities, then they just have to participate in the fundraisers and service projects along with the fun stuff in order to receive any discounts. If you want to bring a friend along just for one event, that could work - BUT, the event is open to Teen members FIRST and your friend will have to pay a full price amount (not the amount that is offered to the Teen Group).
No - if we've filled an event with Teen Group members first; and some activities (like the Ski Weekend and World Youth Day) are for Teen Group members only.
And what was that long answer from above . . . (see to the right)
